Defect
A CRACK OCCURS OUTBOARD OF THE AXLE ATTACHMENT WHICH GROWS AND RESULTS IN SEPARATION OF THE END OF THAT AXLE, INCLUDING TIRES AND WHEELS, FROM THE TRAILER.
Consequence
AXLE SEPARATION WHILE MOVING CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TRAILERS AT ALL 8 WELDS ON THE AXLE TO AIR RIDE BEAM CONNECTIONS FOR VISIBLE CRACKS. IF A CRACK IS DETECTED, THE TRAILERS WILL BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE AND THE AXLES REPLACED.
