Defect

YAMAHA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 VMX17 (V-MAX) MOTORCYCLES, INCLUDING THE YB, YCB, ZR, ZCR AG AND ACG VARIANTS, MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 2008 THROUGH APRIL 2011. ON AFFECTED MOTORCYCLES, HIGH OIL PRESSURE CAN BUILD UP INSIDE THE OIL PUMP CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION. OIL MIGHT THEN STOP PUMPING…

Consequence

AN ENGINE STALL CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH WITH INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy

YAMAHA DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE OIL PUMP FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 21, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT YAMAHA AT 1-800-962-7926.
