INSUFFICIENT MATERIAL THICKNESS IN THE REAR SUSPENSION LOWER SPRING SEATS MAY ALLOW THE SEAT TO FLEX AND BREAK THE SEAT-TO-AXLE WELD.

Remedy

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE LOWER SPRING SEATS, WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.

STEERING 79V180000 1979-08-01 1,223 affected
Defect

SOME OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WERE NOT INSPECTED FOR ADEQUATE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE STEERING SHAFT AND ITS FIREWALL OPENING. INADEQUATE CLEARANCE COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING COLUMN BECOMING SCORED OR SEVERED BY THE FIREWALL SHEET METAL.

Remedy

DEALER WILL INSPECT VEHICLES AND, IF NECESSARY, ENLARGE THE FIREWALL OPENING TO PROVIDE THE MINIMUM 3/8 INCH CLEARANCE FOR THE STEERING SHAFT. ANY SCORED OR CUT SHAFTS WILL BE REPLACED WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING 79V009000 1979-01-09 9 affected
Defect

THE INVOLVED VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT", BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS MAY EXCEED THE 54 INCH HEIGHT LIMITATION.

Remedy

THE DEALER WILL REMOVE THE FRONT SPRING SPACER BLOCKS AT NO COST TO OWNER.

Defect

THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MAY OVER-TRAVEL ITS DESIGNED SWEEP ANGLE DURING ITS INITIAL STROKE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF TEMPORARY WIPER IMMOBILIZATION.

Remedy

DEALER WILL INSTALL A RESTRICTION FITTING IN THE CONTROL VALVE AT NO COST TO OWNER.

STEERING 79V110000 1979-01-09 8,921 affected
Defect

THE HOSE CLAMP, WHICH WAS INSTALLED AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN BOOT SEAT TO KEEP NOISE AND DIRT FROM ENTERING THE CAB, MAY LOOSEN.

Remedy

DEALER WILL REPLACE THE METAL HOSE CLAMP WITHOUT CHARGE.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 78V240000 1978-10-25 16,000 affected
Defect

LOSS OF LIGHTS AND ENGINE SHUTDOWN MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO IMPROPER CIRCUIT CRIMPING AND POTENTIAL HEATER MOTOR CIRCUIT OVERLOADING. ALSO, THE FUEL SOLENOID MAY BE IMPROPERLY FUSED AND THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS IMPROPERLY ROUTED.

Remedy

THE DEALER WILL MAKE THE NECESSARY CORRECTIONS, FREE OF CHARGE TO THE OWNER.
