Defect

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2016-2017 KTM 690 Duke motorcycles. The affected motorcycles may leak fuel from filler cap area of the fuel tank.

Consequence

A fuel leak increases the risk of fire or injury to the rider.

Remedy

The recall began January 2, 2018. Customers may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090.

“Fuel tank leaks fuel at the fuel filler neck, between the tank and the gas tank cap, past the gasket. The top of the tank (plastic) is warped, and the gasket does not seal. Fuel leaks down onto engine potentially creating a fire that would consume the bike, the rider and any objects around it.”
