Defect

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE THROTTLE CABLES COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE TUNNEL PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK.

Consequence

IN THIS CONDITION, THE CABLES COULD EVENTUALLY WEAR THROUGH THE TANK, CAUSING A FUEL LEAK. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CABLE AND TANK, REPOSITION THE CABLE AND, IF NECESSARY, REPAIR OR REPLACE THE TANK AND/OR CABLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 31, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.

“Dt: the front wheel rim was making the motoircycle wobble. The consumer thought it orginally needed to be balanced. Took it to the dealer , and the dealer stated the rim was bent, and this was how the motorcycle was purchased. Noticed this on august 29, 2005. *ak”
