Defect

ON CERTAIN FIRE TRUCKS BUILT WITH DETROIT DIESEL SERIES 60 EGR ENGINES, THE BATTERY TO STARTER MOTOR CABLE RUBS AGAINST THE HEX-HEAD PLUG ON THE FUEL FILTER CAUSING INSULATION DAMAGE AND UNINTENTIONAL GROUNDING.

Consequence

THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HEX HEAD PLUG ON THE FUEL FILTER WITH A 3/8" ALLEN-HEAD PLUG FREE OF CHARGE. IF THE CABLE IS DAMAGED, IT WILL BE REPLACED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 1, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT E-ONE AT 1-352-237-1122.

“The cottleville fire district has 4 2004 e-one pumpers. All have rear spacers between the frame and the u-bolt that have failed in the same manor. The hollow spacers have crushed and come apart. Our first truck sustained the most damage when the suspension shifted and sheared the air ride bolts…”
