Filed by Terex Aerial Work Platforms. Component: Structure. Reported 2014-03-13. An estimated 10 vehicles are affected. Recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer.

Defect

Terex Aerial Work Platforms (Terex) is recalling certain model year 2014 TZ-50 trailer-mounted aerial work platforms. A process change in welding of the tubes may result in a crack in one of the welds on the extendable boom section. This could cause failure of the welds in that section.

Risk

If the welding of the tubes crack, the aerial platform may fall, increasing the risk of injury to the individual on the platform or people around it.

What the manufacturer will do

Terex has notified owners, and dealers will replace the boom sections, free of charge. The recall began on March 14, 2014. Owners may contact Terex at 1-800-536-1800.
