NHTSA Recall 12V450000
Filed by Volvo Bus Corporation. Component: Engine And Engine Cooling. Reported 2012-09-13. An estimated 203 vehicles are affected. Recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer.
Defect
Prevost is recalling certain model year 2009-2013 Volvo Bus 9700 coaches. The pipe that carries hydraulic fluid to the fan drive may crack allowing oil to spray on hot engine components.
Risk
Hydraulic oil sprayed onto hot engine components may result in a vehicle fire.
What the manufacturer will do
Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will add a rubber skirt to the hydraulic pipe, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 22, 2012. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-418-883-2888.
